About Dorrington Hill

Dorrington Hill is a new company formed to promote the introduction of Scotch Whisky from Douglas Laing.

Douglas Laing is an Independent Bottler of fine whisky established in 1949. They purchase the whisky, at the time of distillation. The casks are aged at the distillery and left there until they have reached the age of bottling. Douglas Laing takes a personal interest in the selection and management of the aging and bottling. Fred Laing, one of the owners, is the malt master.

Independent bottlers are able to offer single malts from a variety of sources such as; closed down distilleries, un marked distilleries, lesser known malts, older ages, unusual barrel types, unfiltered malts, no chill filtration.

Independents are able to concentrate on one-offs, of exceptional quality - here today gone tomorrow. They are able to celebrate the very individuality of single malt Scotch whisky - rather than conformity. The experience and whisky is therefore unique.

Dorrington Hill represents all Douglas Laing products and the focus will be on the Old Malt Cask, Provenance, and Platinum selections of whisky. Old Malt Cask whisky is a selection of over 100 malts bottled at 50% abv with a variety of age statements and characteristics. This line will be the primary focus of Dorrington Hill. The Platinum Series are cask strength whiskies with very special characteristics. This series of whisky would be considered specialty or collectors bottles which would normally have a limited market demand because of price. The Provenance series is usually bottled at 43% abv and is an entry level product.

Dorrington Hill plans to introduce 13 new products to New Brunswick in 2005 at the Annual Whisky Festival in October. In future the products will be introduced to Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island with a product launch and tasting seminar. Products will be added to each provincial liquor corporation as the demand warrants.
